Cable Accessories - Cable Terminations - Cable Ties - Cable Lugs - Cable Glands - Cable Connecters - Cable Joints
Cable accessories include additional parts that are used with cables for a number of applications. Cable accessories include duct seals, terminations, joints and splices to seal and insulate the cable from its surrounding environment.
Cable Termination is the connection of the wire or fiber to a device, such as equipment, panels or a wall outlet, which allows for connecting the cable to other cables or devices. The three main areas we will discuss are termination used in Telecom, Datacom and Fiber Optic industries.
A cable lug is a component of an electrical device that connects the cable to the device terminals that simplifies the assembly of personnel, maintenance, and repair processes. A cable lug or connector is used when a permanent connection is required, but a direct one is inconvenient or impossible to achieve.
A cable connector is the component that you attach to the end of a cable so that it can plug into a port or an interface of an electronic system. The majority of connectors are either male or female gender; the males have one or more exposed pins and the female contains holes for those male pins to insert into.
A cable gland (more often known in the U.S. as a cord grip, cable strain relief, cable connector or cable fitting) is a device designed to attach and secure the end of an electrical cable to the equipment. A cable gland provides strain-relief and connects by a means suitable for the type and description of cable for which it is designed—including provision for making electrical connection to the armour or braid and lead or aluminium sheath of the cable, if any. Cable glands may also be used for sealing cables passing through bulkheads or gland plates
