More than 35 years Stöbich
The origins of this family-run Goslar company go back to 1978 when a large-scale fire in a Bahlsen factory caused damage that ran into the millions because the fire passed through the wall openings required for the conveyor systems thereby spreading to several parts of the factory.
And it was precisely for these openings in walls and ceilings that engineer Dr. Jochen Stöbich developed the first fire protection closures for conveyor systems, forming the basis for the rapid development and foundation of the company Stöbich fire protection.
Courage and enthusiasm for technology - Made in Germany

Pioneer in structural fire protection
Pioneer in structural fire protection
Continuous commitment to innovation and a wealth of know-how gained over the past 30 years have been the drivers behind the fire protection solutions for almost any application purpose. In particular with respect to the manufacture of fire and smoke-proof textiles, Stöbich Brandschutz has become an innovation leader that uses state-of-the-art materials to produce future-oriented products that meet both architectural and also technical requirements. Stöbich has advanced to a fire protection specialist due to the large number of successful construction projects in the past and numerous fire tests. The know-how it has amassed during this time is reflected in its broad product portfolio and comprehensive range of services. Many years of experience and competence have allowed the company to keep coming up with pioneering innovations. Every new development raises the standard for improved constructive system properties and higher protection goals for the products. The continuous improvement of the Stöbich solutions, a series of new ideas and their efficient implementation have secured the company a leading role in the fire protection sector for the past 35 years.
Production site Germany
From standard designs to customized solutions
Stöbich only develops and manufactures in Germany. Whether it is the conveyor system closures, fire protection curtains or smoke protection curtains, each and every system is produced at the Goslar site. Precision, permanent controls and long-standing ties with suppliers are prevailing quality standards.
Be it the construction of the control systems, metalworking or development of fabrics, the know-how and the production processes are all cultivated and maintained within the company group.
TEXTILE FIRE PROTECTION
Fire protection should work, but not attract attention! Because outstanding architecture is characterized by the harmony of form and function. Textile fire protection combines aesthetics and functionality and enables open room concepts despite strict fire protection regulations. When the structural separation into fire compartments or the creation of large-scale smoke barriers is required, many fire protection solutions intervene considerably in the room concept.
Fire curtains, smoke aprons and textile smoke protection barriers from STÖBICH present themselves in a very wide range of designs and offer an almost invisible integration into sophisticated and open architecture. Variable installation variants, even round or corner sealing areas and the closure of extremely large wall and ceiling openings make fire and smoke protection curtains from STÖBICH real all-rounders for a wide variety of protection goals.
FIRE PROTECTION FOR CONVEYOR SYSTEMS
The development has a history. In 1978 a major fire in the Berlin Bahlsen plant caused property damage amounting to millions. At that time, the conveyor belts affected had transported the fire to several areas of the hall complex. The avoidable damage in this case amounted to around 6 million DM. The reason was that at that time there were neither functioning nor tested designs on the market to seal off continuous conveyor systems.
Jochen Stöbich designed the first fire protection barriers for this application. Whether as a slide design, flap design, swing door or sectional door: Today there is a suitable partitioning solution for almost every installation situation and conveyor technology variant. Each FAA must fundamentally contribute to a trouble-free funding process, or must not hinder it. Manufacturers of conveyor systems therefore require a safe interaction between the conveyor system and the FAA as well as a reliable closing process.
Fire protection for conveyor belts
The development has a history. In 1978 a large fire in the Bahlsen factory in Berlin caused damage in the millions. In those days, the affected conveyor belts transported the fire into several areas of the hall complex. In this case, the avoidable damage was around 3.4 million USD. The reason was that at this time there were no functioning or tested products available to shield continuous conveyor systems.Jochen Stöbich designed the first fire protection closures for this application case. Be it a valve construction form, damper construction, swing doors or sectional gate: Today, there is a suitable shielding solution for almost every installation situation and conveyor equipment variant. Each of these CSCs must ensure an uninterrupted conveyor process or may not hinder this.
PERFORMANCE OF MODERN FIRE PROTECTION TEXTILES
When looking at a fabric that is only 1 mm thick, it may be difficult for some to believe that it achieves fire resistance that is in no way inferior to that of solid closures such as doors or gates. But modern textiles easily withstand temperatures of more than 1,000 ° C and have been proven to remain intact for several hours. In addition, curtain systems of this type with a corresponding fabric structure can even reduce the passage of radiation by approx. 90%. However, the production of these high-tech fabrics requires a great deal of development effort as well as complex weaving, coating and lamination techniques.
PRIZES AND AWARDS
Numerous prizes and awards for innovative fire protection solutions prove that STÖBICH products meet the highest aesthetic and architectural requirements for building concepts.
Performance capability of modern fire protection textiles
Application options with system diversity
When looking at a fabric that is only 1 mm thick, most people find it difficult to believe that it is able to withstand fires in the same way as solid closures like gates or doors. However, modern textiles are easily able to withstand temperatures in excess of 1,000 ° C verifiably for several hours. Also, these kinds of curtain systems with the right fabric structure can even reduce heat by approx. 90%. There is a lot of development effort that goes into the production of these high-tech fabrics including complex weaving, coating and lamination techniques.
The Stöbich Group

The Stöbich Group has upstream and downstream areas along the actual value creation chain. The Stöbich group comprises 12 companies throughout Germany from the fields of control electronics, fabric development, insulation technology, optical measuring equipment, pollution and fire damage restoration, software development, new technologies and also service and maintenance.
Solutions
Fire protection curtains
Fire protection curtains are seal openings in walls and ceilings in case of fire. The constructional set-up (rolling- or folding technology) and the use of different fabrics offer a wide application spectrum as well as different protection targets or classifications and time classes. Casings and side guides of those flexible applicable systems are integrated almost invisibly in the building and provide much scope for design of sophisticated architecture for opened designs.

Conveyor system closures
Manifold production - and logisitc processes require different construction types of conveying systems. If the haulage drifts are passing through fire-retarding resp. fire-resisting walls or ceilings, the necessary openings must be provided with fire protection closures to avoid the expansion of the fire by conveyor technique or by conveyed material. In case of fire the conveyor system closures have to seal those openings immediately and automatically. Thereby a classified fire resistance as well as the smoothly clearing of the closing area must be respected in case of release.
Conveyor system closures
Smoke curtains
A smoke curtain is part of unit keeping areas free from smoke and may include building parts like natural smoke and heat venting systems and automatic smoke and heat venting systems. Smoke curtains restrict the movement of fire gases inside a building in case of fire.
Smoke curtains
Smoke protection closures
In closed condition smoke protection closures restrict the passage of smoke in the phase of fire formation so as to enable the rescue of people, animals or materials assets in case of a fire in the room positioned behind it without the need of breathing protection.
Smoke protection closures
Tube sealings
The solution to problems with fire protection dampers for ventilation and air conditioning systems in conveying processes. Stöbich offers fire protection for pneumatic conveying lines where the closing elements are not exposed to the flow. Thus, damage or contamination of the closure element is avoided by abrasive conveyed goods.
Tube sealings
Controls
Control systems are necessary for all automatic fire protection systems! They are safety-relevant, because without their function or in the event of a malfunction, the entire investment of a fire protection partition would be useless. Controllers coordinate both fire detection and the interaction with other controls, like superordinate building control or the retraction of the closing area at conveyor closing area.
