Heatless Desiccant-type Air Dryer

Selection of Air Dryer should be based on overall consideration of required dewpoint, initial investment costs as well as maintenance convenience. Our DSH Heatless Desiccant-type Air Dryer Series provide minimum dew point temperature of -40°C (under operating pressure) and are easy to maintain.

Basic Design of
Heatless Desiccant-type Air Dryer

  • Desiccant with outstanding quality is used in order to maintain constant dew point temperature.
  • Sufficient amount of contact with adsorbent should be ensured for complete dehumidification of compressed air.
  • Minimizes amount of regeneration air to reduce energy loss.
  • Adsorbent need to be designed to extend its lifetime.

Sufficient amount of adsorbent

  • Filled with sufficient amount of adsorbent to keep constant dew point temperature by maintaining contact of compressed air with adsorbent for at least few seconds.

Diffuser

  • Diffuser is installed at inlet and outlet point of the tower to distribute the flow of compressed air so that it not only forms equal contact with adsorbent but also prevents channeling. To amplify its effects, it is designed, in accordance with an appropriate ratio of the tower’s height and diameter.

Design of Tower

  • To explain the theory behind the drying and regeneration process of the adsorption-type air dryer; in the drying process, condensation heat is generated as moisture of compressed air is adsorbed onto the adsorbent developing in a certain temperature layer of the tower. When the tower’s length is short, heat energy is emitted outside the tower. When regeneration of the adsorbent is in progress inside the tower, heat energy is needed to dehumidify the absorbed moisture in the adsorbent. If not enough condensation heat is stored in the drying process, the amount of heat energy needed in the regeneration process will be insufficient and as a result, even more purge air will be consumed in order to complete the regeneration process.

Valve System

  • The reliability of various control valves that determine each operation cycle is critical. The DSH adsorption-type dryer’s shuttle valve and check valve are designed with special structures so that problems caused by moisture and solid impurities are completely resolved.
