Brand Information

The company, producer of forged fittings and special components for engineering systems in ferrous and non-ferrous materials, was founded in 1962 and assumed its present structure in 1983. In 1988 Management implemented a Quality Management System with the main aim to obtain ISO 9001 certification and with the intent to maintain conformity with later editions of the Standard. In 1990 the company’s Quality Management System was certified in conformity with ISO 9001 requirements by the Det Norske Veritas authorities. In 2009 M.E.G.A. S.p.A. has awarded ASME accreditation for material organization according to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Subsection NCA 3800.

LOCATIONS

The M.E.G.A. S.p.A. registered office and main production site is in Via Dalla Chiesa 3 – 24020 Scanzorosciate – Bergamo (about 50 km from Milan).
This is where fittings in ferrous and non-ferrous materials are machined: elbows, Tees, self-reinforcing branches, non-welded flanged and unflanged nozzles and special products. Materials used range from carbon steels to alloys, stainless steels, ferritic / austenitic stainless steels as well as nickel, copper, aluminium, molybdenum and titanium alloys.

The factory covers about 9,000 m2, including the workshop and stores.

The main location is easy to reach, only a few kilometres from the Seriate and Bergamo toll gates on the A4 motorway.

M.E.G.A. S.p.A. has another factory in Via Provinciale - 24040 Lallio (Bergamo).
Here production consists in the hot die forging of ferrous and non-ferrous connections such as elbow joints and T-joints. Materials include carbon steels and alloys, stainless steels, ferritic / austenitic stainless steels as well as nickel, copper, aluminium, molybdenum and titanium alloys up to a weight of 20 kg.

The factory covers about 4,000 m2 including the casting workshop and stores.
Another M.E.G.A. S.p.A. factory is located in Via Tonale, 3/E - 24061 Albano Sant’Alessandro (Bergamo).
These premises, covering about 3,000 m2, are dedicated to cutting and sawing, as well as the storage of raw materials.

PRODUCTS

B16.11 fittings

High quality forged fittings according to ASME B16.11 latest edition, may be supplier threaded according to ASME B1.20.1, or socket-weld.
Fittings are made of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steel, Nickel alloys, Copper alloys, Titanium and other metallic materials. Fittings may be provided certified NSF 61, NACE, PED, Norsok. For more details about our certificates visit the download zone .
M.E.G.A. performs the whole manufacturing process: forging, heat treatment, mechanical tests, machining, NDE, final examination and certification, and therefore has full control over it.

Branch Outlets

M.E.G.A. manufactures since 1962 self reinforced branch outlets, which are called “Megalet”.
Megalets are available in many configurations: LatroMegalet that can be installed to create a branch with angle different than 90°, ElbowMegalet that can be mounted on a curve, Insert Megalet which can be welded directly inside the run pipe. All kind of Megalets can be supplied also flanged.
Megalets – developed and validated after continuous engineering – offer technical, technological and economic advantages in respect to traditional outlets, allowing in particular the use of less filler material and hours of welding, and a better control with NDE.
Branch outlets are made of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steel, Nickel alloys, Copper alloys, Titanium and other metallic materials.

Heavy wall fittings

Heavy wall fittings are manufactured either on customer drawings, or after accurate design according to many international codes such as ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASME B&PV Code Section I, Section III, Section VIII Division 1 and Division 2, PED, RCC-M, EN 13480, EN 10253 and other, and is supported by Finite Element Analysis or design calculations.
Fittings that may be manufactured are special tees (e.g. two, three or more ways, seamless barred tee, target tee), special wyes (e.g. two, three or more ways, piggable wyes), special caps, special flanges (e.g. anchor flanges, swivel flanges etc.) and flanged forgings, and many more special forgings engineered and design according to specific requirements.
Fittings are made of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steel, Nickel alloys, Copper alloys, Titanium and other metallic materials.
All the fittings are seamless, but they may be provided also welded and cladded.

Nozzles

M.E.G.A. designs and manufactures high quality nozzles, that can be designed to resist fatigue, high pressure and corrosion.
Nozzles may be in different configurations: flanged, non-flanged, transitions and angled, and may be made of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steel, Nickel alloys, Copper alloys, Titanium and other metallic materials

Special flanges

M.E.G.A. design and manufactures special flanges according to ASME B16.5, B16.47, API 6A and ASME B&PV Section VIII Division 1 and Division 2.
The flanges manufactured are out-of-standard and made on specific customer requirements, such as welding neck and long welding neck flanges, misalignment flanges, swivel flanges, anchor flanges, orifice flanges, blind flanges etc.
Material that can be used for manufacturing are Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steel, Nickel alloys, Copper alloys, Titanium and other metallic materials.
The ring joint may also be cladded with CRA (UNS N06625 typically) for corrosion resistance.

Seamless pipes

Thanks to continuous investments in new technologies, M.E.G.A. is able to obtain from a full forged bar, a seamless pipe up to 11000 mm long and 1400 mm of external diameter. The special manufacturing process allows M.E.G.A. to manufacture special seamless pipes with very small thickness (such as 20 mm – depending on the other dimensions) and high diameter.
Pipes can be made of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steel, and may be internally cladded with CRA (UNS N06625 or 316L typically) for corrosion resistance. DSS and SDSS pipes may be manufactured according to Norsok M-650 standard.
