SolarWorld was the first company to offer a 25-year linear performance guarantee. Their Solar Panels are guaranteed to continuously produce a minimum of 90% of the original cited power. Founded in 1988 with headquarters in Bonn, Germany., By Engineer and CEO Frank H. Asbeck. In 1998, The projects they delved into to produce Solar Energy transferred to the newly found SolarWorld AG. Finally, the company became a publicly traded Solar Panel manufacturer on the Xetra and Frankfurt stock exchanges in August 11^th, 1999.

During 2006, Shell divested their crystalline silicon solar energy business activities to SolarWorld, enabling the company to be represented at every stage of the production chain, encompassing raw materials of silicon, completely assembled plants, and everything in between. In 2008, SolarWorld received German Sustainability Award in the category of "Germany’s Most Sustainable Production 2008".
