Brand Information

Saudi Rock Wool Factory is a member of (GIG) Gulf Insulation Group and a Subsidiary of Zamil Industrial Investment Company (Zamil Industrial). Saudi Rock Wool Factory Co. provides the local and international market with numerous thermal insulation, construction and industrial materials.

There are two manufacturing units of Saudi Rock Wool Factory. The first one was established in 1992 in the third industrial area south of Riyadh and has a total production capacity of 25,000 tons/year using state of the art equipment and machinery.

The Second factory is being commissioned now and shall be operational early 2014. This new plant is located in Al Kharj industrial city and will be the biggest Rock Wool plant in the region, producing 40,000 tons of the different Rock Wool products per year. With this SRWF will be the Largest producer of Rock Wool in the Middle East and Asia Region.

Quality is our Goal and as part of our commitment to quality, we perform regular product testing, both locally and internationally, against the highest standards levels. SRWF has ISO, DCL and CE Certificates. SRWF Products are classified as A1 (Non-Combustible) by Warrington, BRE and Pavus accredited fire laboratories. Additionally, products are approved by Dubai Municipality as HCFC free and listed as Green Building Materials.

Our Vision

To be the market leader and supplier of choice for Rock Wool Insulation products in the Middle East.

Our Mission

Offering best quality Rock Wool products produced in state-of-art facility adhering to world class operating standards.

People close to volcanic areas, have known Rock Wool for a long time. They observed fiber being formed by the air hitting the lava. A Danish scientist brought the principles of using rock fibers in the thermal insulation, and established the first Rock Wool plant in 1937, rock wool production spread to the rest of the world since then. In the Kingdome of Saudi Arabia, there are plenty of historically volcanically active areas, these spread especially in the western region, covering more than 200000 square kilometers of land. These areas are called Harrat.

Rock Wool fibers are produced from natural volcanic rocks, which are melted in special furnaces at a temperature of more than 1500 °C and are then spun to fine fibers characterized by their flexibility and high temperature resistance. The fibers are collected and processed on production lines to form the different shapes of Rock Wool, mainly boards, felts, quilted mattress, loose fibers and pipe coverings. Each of which is produced in different thicknesses and densities.

Rock Wool is a highly efficient insulation material and used in most of the known application requiring thermal, acoustical or fire stopping insulation, thanks to its very low thermal conductivity and very high melting temperature.

WHY USE ROCK WOOL?

Rock Wool is a high performing material in the thermal insulation, acoustic insulation and fire resistance applications.

Thermal insulation and energy saving (power/energy conservation) is one of our modern civilization concerns, for its positive role in conserving the environment and the national economy. Scientific research and studies proved that use of thermal insulation in buildings will dramatically reduce the heat transferred through the walls and roofs.

Thus it has a major contribution in saving the electric power/energy needed to cool/heat the place. Based on the above, rules and regulation were adopted, making thermal insulation in private or public buildings mandatory. The thermal resistance of walls and ceiling was specified to suit the geographical region of most countries. Professional studies proved that the thermal insulation cost of a building will not exceed 3.5% of its budget. This amount however, will be paid back in 4 - 5 years as a result of the saving in the electricity bill.

Acoustic insulation:

The open cell structure of Rock Wool makes it an ideal product as a sound absorber or acoustic insulator, with high absorbing/insulating coefficients over a wide sound frequency range, the acoustical insulation can be achieved by installing Saudi Rock Wool in wall partitions, thus providing significant improvement in their Sound Transmission Class (STC). Due to its open cell structure, Saudi Rock Wool has superior sound absorption properties.

(NRC>0.95), Using Rock Wool against sound waves decreases the sound reverberation time rooms/spaces, thus providing comfort and sound intelligibility to the occupants.

Among its services Saudi Rock Wool Factory provides technical support and advice to its valued customers, with the best selection of materials to suit their needs and applications, STC and reverberation time for different wall partitions are calculated using special software that includes most of the known structural materials.

The most important characteristic of Rock Wool is its exceptional resistance against fire; Rock Wool is non-combustible and does not ignite. It is therefore internationally specified as a fire rated material.

Rock Wool restricts the fire to spread from a zone to another; it also acts as a protection for load bearing elements in steel structures and thus prevents the building from collapsing under fire conditions.

Rock Wool materials are widely used in ship industry and offshore oil drilling platforms for protection of both personal and equipment. No toxic gases will be emitted during or after Rock Wool installation or in case of fire.
