  Mineral tile production begins

  1963

  Beginning of mineral tile production by the company ATEX.

•  

  AMF-Mineralplatten GmbH is founded

  1970

  Founding of the company AMF-Mineralplatten GmbH KG.

  Development into an independent business division

  1985

  Development into an independent business division through the acquisition of the necessary land, buildings and assets from the company ATEX.

•  

  Investment from the Knauf Management Group

  1995

  In 1995 the Knauf Management Group took over 50% of the shares at AMF. This resulted in the start of the investment initiatives to expand capacity (drying and finishing expansions).

  100% Knauf

  2002 / 2003

  2002: The remaining shares are taken over by the Knauf Management Group. The ATEX factory is decommissioned and simultaneously the land and buildings are taken over by Knauf AMF to establish a new mineral tile production plant.
  
  2003: Start of the investment project for the new mineral tile production plant by Knauf AMF.

  Commissioning of the new mineral tile production

  2005

  With the commissioning of the new mineral tile production in Grafenau, the total capacity could be doubled.

•  

  Further investments

  2006 / 2007

  2006: Opening of a very modern training and innovation centre - Forum AMF.
  
  2007: Expansion of the production capacity through investments in the drying and finishing lines. Establishment of a further finishing line for special products as well as the establishment of a laminating line.

•  

  Commissioning of our own grid plant

  2010 / 2011

  2010: Investment in our own Knauf AMF plant for grid and substructures.
  
  2011: Commissioning of the grid plant in January 2011 and launch of the AMF VENTATEC® product brand; enabling us to offer a system: grid (AMF VENTATEC®) and ceiling tiles (AMF THERMATEX®)

  HERADESIGN® and DONN®

  2013

  Knauf AMF continued to grow in 2013.
  
  The company took over HERADESIGN® (wood-wool acoustics) from their partner Knauf Insulation in Ferndorf (Austria) and Knauf AMF also acquired the European business divisions of DONN® (grid and substructure) from USG Europe in Dreux (France), Peterlee (Great Britain), Viersen (Germany) and Antwerp (Belgium).

  Start of the soft mineral growth initiative

  2015

  Start of the soft mineral growth initiative with the brand - AMF TOPIQ®.
  
  Installation of an additional finishing process in Grafenau (Germany).

  Development of the metal ceiling business

  2016

  Development of the metal ceiling business with the AMF MONDENA® brand.

Suspended Ceiling Grid - Systems and Accessories

The renowned DONN® DX technology as well as the patented gold “Quick-ReleaseTM Clip” on the cross tee have been hallmarks of high-quality ceiling suspension systems for many years. A broad range of products guarantees universal, flexible and certified system compatibility.

For decades, Knauf AMF has been one of the leading, international manufacturers of suspended ceiling systems and represents complete product and system solutions expertise. The company develops, produces and markets innovative and trend-setting system solutions –globally for the modular ceiling and interior systems market.

Knauf AMF has been able to further strengthen its market position with the integration of the DONN® brand and the proven DX technology. With this extension of our expertise in the area of grid structures, we are in a position to offer a wide range of complete, high performance and certified solutions. In addition, more flexibility in system compatibility and increased availability enable optimum service for specialist contractors, architects and distributors.

DONN® DX3 stands for outstanding economy with a clear, discreet appearance.

Clear lines, subtle appearance and highly efficient

All DX standard systems are characterised by a combination of subtle appearance and high efficiency. The systems are available in 24 and 15 mm profile widths (visible area) and can be quickly and easily demounted and re-used due to the patented “Quick-ReleaseTM Clips” of the cross tees.

• The DX3® design enables the profiles to be cut quicker and easier thus saving time and energy and benefitting the installer.
• A weight reduction of around 20% from previous DONN® grids is clearly noticeable when handling on site – the profiles are easier to transport and install.

A further benefit of the DONN® DX standard programme is the availability of alternative colour options for the capping (visible area) in addition to white.

The modular ceiling as an elegant visual feature beyond mere functionality

The creation of shadow gaps and reveals to highlight the modularity in a ceiling, as with the DX Fineline system, characterizes this grid system. The system features a box profile with a central groove (6.5 mm width) along the exposed profile that creates a shadow gap of varying visibility, dependent on the rooms lighting conditions.

In addition, the groove enables the direct fixing of partitioning and signage.

The general quality of a ceiling system is fundamentally determined by the accessories used and coordinated to suit the corresponding profile design.
