1939

Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard start a test and measurement company in a garage in Palo Alto, California, known today as the "Birthplace of Silicon Valley."

1959

HP establishes its first production site outside of the US in Boeblingen, Germany.

1986

In 1986 HP released its first OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer), the HP 8145A.

1999

Nov. 1st, 1999, the measurement business from HP spins off into an independent company – Agilent Technologies.

2006

In 2006 (then still Agilent), the world's first outdoor DTS (Distributed Temperature Sensing) model was released.

2007

Nov. 1st, 2007, Agilent’s Fiber Sensing business in Boeblingen, Germany starts with a new Business Model, based on AP Sensing as a dedicated and focused company.

2008

DTS (Distributed Temperature Sensing) gets VdS Certificate of Approval.

2010

AP Sensing is selected to monitor and protect the Eurotunnel, the world's longest undersea tunnel.

2013

DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing) 1st Generation for Rail Monitoring, Smart City and TPI (Third Party Intrusion).

 

2014

AP Sensing introduces market-leading measurement ranges -- up to 50km for both singlemode and multimode fiber.

2015

AP Sensing was selected to supply the DTS (Distributed Temperature Sensing) system to monitor the world's longest XLPE subsea cable link between Sweden and Lithuania.

2016

DVS (Distributed Vibration Sensing) – Pipeline projects utilizing Long Ranger technology (Michelson Interferometer – Mach Zehnder).

 

2017

DAS 2nd Generation extended range and AI-Algorithms for enhanced classification.

2018

Industry's most advanced DTS is released, reaching new levels of asset monitoring.

Enhanced 3rd Generation DAS is developed utilizing 2P Squared Technology.

2019

Next Level of AI-Algorithms, aggregation and enhanced classification technologies plus MLTA (Machine Learning Transient Alarm).
