History

1910

1920s

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation established with paid-in capital of 15 million yen. (1921)

Produced the first Mitsubishi vertical-axle hydraulic generator (2,300kVA). (1924)

1930s

Produced 9,000hp synchronous motor for Nichiman Aluminum Corporation, boasting the largest power output in Japan. (1934)

Produced a 31,250kVA turbine generator, a record-breaking high-speed large-capacity generator, for the Saka Power Plant of Hiroshima Denki. (1935)

Produced a 5,000hp DC motor with the largest capacity in Japan for a blooming mill at the Yahata Steel Works of Nippon Steel Corporation. (1936)

Produced Japan’s first electrical substation equipment with AC-side power failure protection to be delivered to the Kobe Substation of the Ministry of Railways. (1938)

1940s

1950s

Succeeded in making Japan's first V-type oil circuit breakers for use on ultra high-voltage lines (287.5kV/5,000MVA). (1951)

Expanded the 1st overseas power generator to India. (1951)

Completed 105,000 kVA Francis-type hydraulic turbine generator for the J-Power Tagokura power plant, featuring umbrella-type construction with Japan's highest generation capacity. (1957)

 

1960s

Completed the first Mitsubishi nuclear power generator (400,000kVA). (1968)

Commercialized the first gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) in Japan. (1968)

1970s

Completed the 560,000 kVA turbine generator -- Japan's largest -- for the Kansai Electric Power Company's Mihama Power Plant. (1970)

Produced Japan's largest-capacity nuclear power generator (1,300,000kVA) and a full gas-insulated substation (550kV). (1976)

1980s

DC substation using a thyristor turn-off system for electric railways placed into commercial operation for the first time in the world at Sapporo City Transportation Bureau. (1982)

Produced a large-capacity thyristor excitation controller for Thermal Power Station No.1 of Kansai Electric Power Corporation. (1983)

First company in the world to achieve production of 10,000 gas circuit breakers. (1984)

Shipped the first M60 plant computer to Ako Thermal Power Station No. 1 of Kansai Electric Power Company. (1986)

1990s

Total number of Mitsubishi Electric gas circuit breakers (GCBs) delivered surpasses 20,000. (1991)

Produced the worlds’ first static self-excited reactive power compensator (STATCOM) for electric power companies. (1996)

Produced the world’s first decomposed gas sensor to detect abnormalities inside GIS. (1998)

Produced Japan’s first intelligent substation system for automated monitoring and control. (1998)

2000s

Produced “HS-X”, the world’s first 24kV-class dry-air composite-insulation switchgear. (2000)

Began marketing “BLEnDer” package software in line with liberalization of the electric power retail market. (2001)

Produced the first 7.2kV VCB electromagnetic dry-air insulated C-GIS (MG-VA) for JR East Tokyo Station. (2007)

2010s

Shipped the first digital instrumentation and control system to Chinese nuclear power stations. (2010)

Produced the world’s first injector used in APF-method proton beam therapy. (2010)

Launched smart community in-house verification test facility (2010)

Launched VP-X High-efficiency Turbine Generator (2015)
