History

Our Story

1851 Foundation

Arnold Oventrop (1820-1871) founds Arnold Oventrop & Co. Messing- und Broncewarenfabrik in Altena.
Copper-containing materials are the common denominator for the production program – the factory produces brass goods, such as.B fittings for furniture, doors and windows.

1871 Change of ownership

A new generation: The sons Friedrich Wilhelm (1847-1935) and Adolf Oventrop (1851-1912) take over the company.

1886–1904 Expansion

The city of Altena is now highly industrialized. Workers are becoming scarce and Oventrop is

shifting production to various locations in the Sauerland – including Iserlohn and Bigge.

1907 Iserlohn

1922 Generation change

The son of Friedrich Wilhelm Oventrop, Paul Oventrop (1886-1974), takes over the plant in Bigge. The other establishments will be discontinued over time.

1952 New shareholders

The Fähnrich and Rump families become shareholders of the company.

1957

Werner Fähnrich (1909-1993) becomes Managing Partner.

1973 Oil crisis

The first oil crisis means a deep cut after the so-called "economic miracle" years.

1975 Municipal restructuring

As part of the municipal reorganization, Bigge becomes a district of the city of Olsberg. The company headquarters will thus become Olsberg.

1980 Brilon

A production plant is opened in Brilon. Thermostatic valves and other heating fittings increasingly determine the program.

1988

Georg Rump (born 1946) becomes Managing Partner.

1990 German reunification

The reunification of Germany and the opening of the borders in the east enable the company to grow strongly.

2010

Jochen Fähnrich (geb. 1952) wird Geschäftsführender Gesellschafter.

2015 Brilon

Oventrop eröffnet auf dem Werksgelände in Brilon seine bisher größte, mit modernster Technik ausgestattete Betriebshalle: Auf einer Nutzfläche von mehr als 12.000 m² werden hier Komponenten aus den vorgelagerten Fertigungsstufen endmontiert.

2017

Georg Rump ist nicht mehr Geschäftsführer. Johannes Rump (geb. 1982) wird Geschäftsführender Gesellschafter.

Heute

Das Unternehmen hat in seinen beiden Werken in Olsberg und Brilon zusammen etwa 1.000 Mitarbeiter, davon rund 70 Auszubildende. Weltweit hat Oventrop mehr als 1.200 Mitarbeiter. Oventrop ist einer der führenden europäischen Hersteller von Armaturen, Reglern und Systemen für die Haustechnik.

Das Unternehmen bietet für die Bereiche Heizen, Kühlen und Trinkwasser sowie Industrie mit etwa 7.000 Produkten ein umfangreiches Sortiment, das in etwa 80 Ländern der Erde verkauft wird. Der Export erfolgt über acht Vertriebs-Tochtergesellschaften und zahlreiche Vertretungen im Ausland.
