SAGO Completes Procedures for the Fifth and Last Tender of Imported Wheat of This Year

Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has completed procedures for the last and fifth tender of imported wheat for the year of 1440/1441 AH (2019 AD); which is 605,000 tons of hard wheat from the origins of the European Union, the Black Sea, Australia, North and South America (except Canada).
H.E. Eng. Ahmad A. Al-Fares, Governor of Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO), said in a statement today that this tender comes within the framework of meeting the local needs and maintaining the strategic reserve of wheat. The arrival of the fifth tender of this year will be during the period of (February – March 2020) in (10) ships; distributed to (6) ships for Jeddah Islamic Port with the amount of 370,000 tons, (3) ships for King Abdulaziz port in Dammam with the amount of 180,000 tons and (1) ship for Jazan Port with the amount of 55,000 tons.

His Excellency added that 22 global companies specialized in grains trade were invited to the tender; 17 of them competed and 5 were selected. With the completion of this tender, the organization will have imported 3.4 million tons of wheat in this year.
