The Minister of Water and Electricity, Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Alhasin signed contracts for the implementation of water and sanitation projects across different parts of the Kingdom.
The projects are to cost a total cost of more than SR 452 million, and are part of his overall plan to achieve high growth rates and to keep pace with the accelerating growth in cities and provinces.
One contract includes the first draft for implementation of sewage networks and pumping stations in Biblarshi in the Baha district (first phase), amounted to cost SR 83.12 million and take place over 36 months. The second contract includes a sewage project in Baqaa in Hail, amounted to SR 37.89 million. The duration of the contract is 24 months. A third contract for the project involves supplying chemicals to operate treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, and drinking water wells in the Eastern Region, amounted to cost SR 34.22 million and with a duration of 12 months.
The plan also includes a fourth contract, which is for developing central water stations in Dammam and Al Khafji in the Eastern Province. This project is projected to cost SR 33.1 million and the duration of the contract is 12 months. The fifth project incorporates a sewage system project in Hail (Phase III) in the amount of SR 26.9 million and duration of implementation determined to be 18 months.
A sixth project included in the contract addresses the operation and maintenance of the water piping system and its features in Abha in the Asir Province, at a cost of SR 22.5 million and with an implementation duration of the contract lasting 36 months. A seventh contract project seeks to establish reservoir and plant water distribution in Alamadh in the district of Khamis Mushayt in Asir.
The cost of the project is set at SR 19.5 million and has an implementation duration of 30 months. Finally, the eighth contract pertains to the implementation of water projects and sanitation in the districts of Almujama, Zulfi and Al Ghat in Riyadh. The project is to cost SR 16.1 million and the duration of the contract is 36 months.
